You will need:

To install the panels, you will need the following:

  • AluWood panels (240 × 45.1 × 3.3 cm)
  • Weather barrier
  • Clips
  • Ventilation battens (for the weather barrier)
  • Battens (max. c/c 80 cm)
  • Circular saw
  • Electric screwdriver
  • Screws for installing the panels and fastening the battens to the wall:
-Screws for the inner side, clips and battens (4.8 × 35 mm)
-Screws for the inner and outer side, for installing the panels (4.8 × 19 mm)
  • Insect mesh (1800 mm)
  • AluWood flashing (optional – unless you are installing around a window) (240 cm)
  • AluWood corner trims, if you want a wood finish on the corners (240 × 40 × 18 cm)
  • Ruler or measuring tape
  • Pencil

Prepare your wall

Before installing AluWood, make sure the wall is properly prepared. Start by removing any old wood so the surface is clean. Then install the weather barrier to protect the structure from moisture. Once that is in place, install ventilation battens behind the panels – remember that the distance between them must not exceed 80 cm.

Finally, install the insect mesh to prevent small animals and insects from getting in. Not sure how? See the solution in the video below.

How to install the insect mesh

Whether it is installed at the bottom or top of the façade, the principle is the same: Make sure the insect mesh fully covers the opening to keep small animals and insects out. Fasten it by screwing directly through the mesh and into the ventilation battens.

Measure your wall

Measure the wall to determine where you want to place the panels and whether they need to be cut to fit.

Cut the panels

If you need to cut the panels, use a circular saw.

Important: Check the direction of the panels before cutting and installing them.

Make sure to account for the panel orientation. The panel has a top and a bottom side. The lower edge has a 15-degree angle so water can run off properly.

Secure the back of the panel

Check the back of the panel to see if extra screws are needed to ensure good stability.

Make sure the back is securely fastened. If you have cut the panel to size, some of the screws may have been removed. If so, use our inner screws to refasten any loose areas so the back is completely stable.

Mark where the screws should go

For a clean and even result, draw a straight line on the panel as a guide for screw placement.

Install the panels

Make sure the 15-degree angle faces downward. Use our outer screws and drive them through the aluminium sheet and into the battens. Follow your markings to ensure straight screw lines.

Install the next panel

When installing the next panel, place it on top of the previous one so they overlap. See how it is done in the video below. Then drive the screw through the double layer of aluminium and into the batten.

Continue the installation

Repeat the process, panel by panel, until the entire wall is covered.
